Three Ways to Make a Difference at Union Gospel Mission

By Dr. Mark Denison

Union Gospel Mission is touching thousands of lives in the Dallas area every day. Beginning as a street ministry in 1949, the ministry operates around a four-phase, faith-based rehabilitation program that has transformed countless lives.

There are three ways you can make a difference through the dynamic ministry of UGM.

First, you can shop at the UGM Super Thrift Store. Located at 2305 W. Airport Freeway in Irving, Texas, the store is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. All proceeds support Union Gospel Mission. And while you are blessing others, you will get great deals – up to 95% off retail prices on everything! Merchandise for sale includes clothing, shoes, appliances, furniture, accessories, books, televisions, and electronics.

Second, you can donate goods. The Mission is always in need of nourishing food, clothing, shoes, toys, Bibles, toiletries, towels, blankets, and computers. Bring your donations to the main office at 3211 Irving Blvd in Dallas, Monday through Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call ahead if you like (214-637-6117).

Third, you can volunteer. Union Gospel Mission relies on volunteers to serve men, women, and children. You can volunteer one time or on a monthly basis. There are many ways to serve: serving meals, helping with special events, leading Bible studies, and mentoring men and women.
